Leadership - Use Emotional Intelligence to Elevate your Leadership
This course explores emotional intelligence (EI) as a core leadership competency in nursing and other collaborative work settings. Participants examine the five pillars of EI, self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills, along with the Yale RULER framework for recognizing, understanding, labeling, expressing, and regulating emotions. Through a realistic unit-based case scenario, learners practice de-escalation, active listening, and empathetic communication to resolve conflict while protecting team trust and patient safety. Guided self-reflection and practical strategies help participants strengthen their own emotional competencies and build a personal development plan they can apply immediately in practice.
Please Note: Students who arrive after the 15 minute grace period will NOT be allowed to attend the course. Professional attire/scrubs are expected to be worn when attending any Flex Ed course.
